Cedarwood Oil Himalayan is a versatile essential oil known for its wide range of properties. It acts as an antiseptic, anti-putrescent, antiseborrheic, aphrodisiac, astringent, diuretic, expectorant, fungicidal, mucolytic, sedative (for nervousness), stimulant (for circulation), and tonic. In India, it has been found to be an effective natural insecticide and fungicide, useful for preserving spices during storage. Its non-toxic nature makes it safe for repelling household insects and pests, while also being gentle on mammals. Cedarwood Oil Himalayan has shown potential anti-cancer properties, particularly against human epidermal carcinoma of the nasopharynx in tissue culture studies.
The oil is extracted from the roots and stumps of the Cedarwood tree (Cedrus deodara), which is a tall evergreen growing up to 50 meters in height. This tree is native to the slopes of the Himalayas in northern India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Cedarwood Himalayan Oil is refined through an alkali wash. The highest quality oil, rich in Himachalene, is known as super rectified oil, while oil high in Atlantone and with higher resin removal is used as perfumery grade cedarwood oil.
